Four Muses

Was feeling out of sorts yesterday, so decided to play with art supplies. Always makes me feel better. Instead of playing in my journal, I decided to create pieces that I could easily send in the mail. Here are the 4 cards I made yesterday. Click on images to enlarge. Really like how they turned out - it's never like I first imagine - somehow it is always better.

So let's play a game. I will send out one of these cards (randomly selected) to one reader (also randomly selected) of this blog. To enter the game, you need to leave a comment about what you do to soothe yourself when you are out of sorts.

Entry deadline is midnight August 31, EST.

When I am not feeling quite right, I have to get outside. In daylight, the natural majesty of the landscape is soothing. Or it may just be the vitamin D from the sunshine;-) There is nothing that puts life, and my troubles, in perspective for me than gazing up at the stars. So huge, so countless, so far away in the ever expanding universe, I can't help but feel the star dust within me calm.

There are several strategies I use to help me when I am out of sorts. Just a few include: taking a walk, doing restorative yoga poses, writing, and organizing (sometimes removing the visual clutter around me helps remove the mental clutter in my head).

Taking Cody out for a hike in the woods always gets me in a better frame of mind. When I am in the office I have a slinky on my desk for little disturbances (and it helps me think). When things are really bad I cook and invite some of my friends over for dinner- being surrounded by positive people is my best therapy.

My remedy depends on what's going on. Getting outside, usually with some kind of exercise (bike, walk and just added: running!), or journaling are my top two approaches. But sometimes reading, calling a friend, yoga are the answers. Thanks for getting me to leave my first blog comment E!

Thank you for the wonderful card! It was my favorite and will help me keep my vision in my business (and personal life). It was going on the fridge- but I decided to frame it and hang it in the office.

Music, music, music and yes a good walk with music. Eva Cassidy when I need to emote and let it out. Joni Mitchell when no one understands me,John Mayer when I want a fantasy of the perfect man,REM when I feel like a cog in the machine of life, and James Taylor when it all can be good. Beautiful cards. I'd definitely like to get into card making. Loved meeting you! Jane aka kreativekandy
