Home Again

Back from almost a week on the boat. The weather has been fantastic. Finally. About dang time.

Something I have noticed lately is that there are plenty of big, and I mean big, power boats out and about, but not so many of the medium sized ones. Heard from the owner of one such medium sized power boat that it costs about $500 for him to go from Boston to Gloucester and back. That is about 30 miles - give or take a few. 500 bucks!! Think about all the places you could fly to for that kinda dough. No wonder his boat has not left the slip lately. Just to put things in perspective, it costs us about $15 for the same trip. Sure, we do not get up on a plane and cover the distance in a couple of hours - but in my opinion, this is a sure example of where slow and steady wins the race. Now if you are on one of those mega yachts I've been admiring - the ones that cost several million dollars, plus, I suppose that the cost of fuel is simply pocket change. Am still in shock.
